How to make: A 7 minute quilt top quilt (aka the ice-cream quilt)
I've been quilting for just over 3 years now and have lately been on a kick of making quilts that match our home decor. I love using linens and different textures, and being the impatient quilter that I am, LOVE super simple and fast quilts. So I made this quilt- it only uses three pieces on the quilt top and comes together in a jiffy :-)
This cutting instructions makes a quilt that is 79" x 81" which is a great sized bed quilt.
Fabric Requirements:
2m (2.2 yards)- Fabric A (I used the caramel colour)
0.9m (1 yard)- Fabric B (I used the cream colour)
1.15m (1.25 yards)- Fabric C (I used the rose colour)
5m (5.5 yards)- Fabric D for backing (I used the gingham)
Fabric for binding (I used leftover fabric for a scrappy binding)
Cutting instructions:
Cut Fabric A into a piece that is 79" x 41"
Cut Fabric B into a piece that is 36" x 41"
Cut Fabric C into a piece that is 43.5 x 41"
Assembly instructions:
Using 1/2" seams, sew piece B to C. Press seams open.
Attach piece A to the bottom, using 1/2" seams. Given we have such large pieces, we are using larger seams than your typical 1/4" quilting seams :-)
And your quilt top is done!
Baste, quilt and bind as desired. I quilted using straight lines that were just over an inch apart.
I made round corners for this quilt, using a plate to trace to get the curve.
And your quilt is done! I hope you found the tutorial useful but please let me know if you have any questions :-)
